Your first day with FlowPrinter: a setup checklist

Last updated

Watch: A tour of the FlowPrinter admin menu (0:47)

Your store comes with a full catalog already in it: business cards, flyers, copies, banners, yard signs and more, each with sizes, paper and starting prices. Your job on day one is to make it yours: check that the prices match what you charge at the counter, switch off what you don’t sell, and connect payments. Plan on about an hour.

Find your way around

Sign in and you land on your admin. The menu on the left (behind the menu button on a phone) is grouped by how often you’ll use it:

  • Counter: Orders, Quotes, Customers, Company Accounts, Inventory and Payments. This is where the day happens.
  • Catalog: Products, Paper Types and Imposition. What you sell and what it costs.
  • Promotions: the promotion banner, Coupons and Discounts.
  • Your store: Branding, Website & SEO, and Settings (hours, tax, turnaround, shipping and the rest).
  • Account: Team, Subscription and What’s New.

View Store, at the bottom of the menu, opens your store the way customers see it. Staff accounts see the Counter screens only; the owner and managers see everything.

The checklist

  1. Make it look like your shop. In Branding, add your logo and colors. In Settings → Store Info, Address and Hours, fill in what customers need to find you.
  2. Check your prices. Open Products and go through the items you sell most. Follow Check and change a product’s prices.
  3. Choose your paper. Open Paper Types and make the list match the stock on your shelf, then pick which papers each product offers. See Set up paper types and choose them for each product.
  4. Switch off what you don’t sell. Every product row in Products has a switch on the right. Off means customers don’t see it. You can turn it back on any time.
  5. Set your turnaround and tax. Under Settings, set Turnaround, Rush Orders and Tax so the dates and totals customers see are right.
  6. Connect payments. The store owner connects Stripe under Settings → Stripe. Until then, keep Settings → Test Mode on and place a test order yourself to see what customers see.
  7. Invite your team. Under Team, invite the people who work the counter. Give them the Staff role unless they should change prices.

When something new arrives in FlowPrinter, What’s New in the menu shows a New tag until you’ve read it.
